Popeyes Chicken Sandwiches Easy Recipe

Sweet-tasting buns with crunchy, meaty portions of chicken. It’s one of the most popular fast-food menu items around. Due to its massive demand from loyal and new customers, the Popeyes chicken sandwich has always been sold out.

Is Popeyes Fried Chicken Sandwich Worth the Hype

It was in August 2019 when Popeyes debuted the crispy chicken sandwich. Customers immediately poured into their stores and patiently waited in long lines just to have their own bite of the sandwich. Its popularity continued and just 2 weeks after the food’s debut, it had sold out. I knew I had to replicate this delicious copycat of Popeyes fried chicken sandwiches.

Why was Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich considered as the fast-food phenomenon of 2019?
Well, what’s to resist from eating the chicken sandwich and adding it into your meal.

First of all, the sandwich is big – much bigger than a regular fast-food burger – with a measurement of around 5 inches or more in diameter. What’s more, the fried chicken’s tender golden-brown exterior perfectly blends with the shiny, soft, and orange-y bun. Adding to its mouth-watering, pleasing look is a smear of sauce and some green pickles (this is where things get spicy).

Its floury, warm smell is another reason to have one on your plate. When it comes to making fried chicken, Popeyes has perfected it – juicer and thicker than other fried chickens being served out there. The scale of calories is around 480. (we’re already making you hungry, are we?)

This sandwich hit the restaurant like a powerful wind. Its effect was very strong even when it returned to the global menu. Regardless of its (quite) heaviness with a substantial bun, a huge slab of chicken breast, and pickles, Popeyes chicken sandwich is within everyone’s budget. No wonder it is a double hit among consumers of all types.

How To Make Popeyes Chicken Sandwich (Copycat)

This is our sandwich take: The fried chicken sandwich by Popeyes makes a massive splash with fresher pickles, delicious sauce, and nicer bun. Of course, don’t forget the crackly, crunchy signature breading. It has been compared to other well-known chicken sandwich, but its popularity still reigns – from texture to appearance to smell and taste.

While it takes time before Popeyes return the chicken sandwich into their popular menu, its impact tends to continue to gain momentum.

Sold out or not, you no longer need to wait for too long just to satisfy your craving for this now-popular sandwich. Yes, making your own is highly possible – and we’re here to guide you through the preparation process!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 medium sized brioche buns
  • 1/2 cup mayo & 1 tsp hot sauce (for spicy mayo)
  • Sliced pickle slices
  • For chicken marinade, breading and making spicy mayo:
  • 1 tsp of onion powder
  • 1 tsp of paprika
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Optional additions
  • 4 slices of cheese singles
  • Homemade slaw

DIRECTIONS

  • For Marinating Chicken
  • Use a plastic wrap or parchment paper for pounding the chicken breasts in between two parts. Make two small chicken pieces by cutting it in half crosswise. The size must be about similar to that of the bun.
  • Mix the salt, black pepper, paprika, buttermilk, and garlic powder together in a big bowl. Add the chicken and then put the mixture inside the fridge. Either use straight away or marinate for up to twenty-four hours.
  • For Cooking Chicken
  • Heat oil in a large pot or skillet (1) until it reaches 350F or (2) on medium temperature.
  • Whisk the spices, flour, and cornstarch in a medium shallow bowl. Drizzletwo to three tablespoons of buttermilk batter in the flour mixture. Blend thoroughly using a fork.
  • Create a thick crust through dredging chicken, the flour mixture and pressing flour on the top chicken. Transfer to hot oil. Fry for three to five minutes for every side or once you notice the outside is golden in color as well as crispy. The internal temperature should also reach 165F.
  • For Assembling
  • In a large saucepan, melt one tablespoon of butter. Toast down the buns’ faces until they become crisp and golden.
  • For the mayo, get a small bowl and whisk all the ingredients. Then, spread an ample layer of mayo on all the buns.
  • Top them with chicken and pickles.
  • Ready to serve!

NOTES

  • Tip: Hot sauce makes this dish stand out compared to other sandwiches you could make.
